Meet The Baker

Owner & Baker
Growing up in the small, rural Texas town of Industry where everyone in town is family or related in some sort of way, our family property (the hill) was basically a farm, a nursery, and a gathering place for family, and friends. My grandparents would take people in that were in need, we raised animals, had big lush gardens, lots of fruits trees throughout the yards, and fields.
My family would gather for big dinners, backyard bbq's, we spent most nights around a backyard fire pit laughing and telling stories. Watching my aunts, older cousins, and cooking shows, started my curiosity of how things worked in the kitchen. My love for baking was a part of me, just waiting for me to experiment and bring delicious goods to life.
My first dessert from scratch was peach cobbler, I was maybe 10 or 11 at the time, just in the kitchen exploring and baking, it was a hit! After that one day of experimenting I was designated to make the cobblers from then on. I would eventually continue baking from scratch- meaning using basic ingredients with nothing pre-made.
My granny Nora Lee "lump" Williams was the queen of canning, she would make all of our jellies, pickles, preserves, and pickled veggies. My granny loved her family, and church, one of her favorite sayings, " If I had a thousand tongues, I couldn't say how much I loved the Lord". I was always her car riding buddy to the grocery store,my mom and her instilled faith in me from a young age.
By the time I graduated from high school, I went to college. I'd been baking for many years. Baking for friends, and family celebrations, no matter what path life put me on, baking was and is always there. In fall of 2021 I finally stepped out and started Nora Lee's Scratch Bakery. We've been a part of many market days, annual markets, invited to several Texas festivals. This bakery is rooted in love, strength, and producing scratch baked goods made from the freshest ingredients.
